    1. Interesting comment. Our county has a large Amish community and a lot of tourists as a result. For a number of reasons this part of the Doughty Valley has avoided a lot of the tourist pressure and seems to be more like the county used to be. Certainly not ideal but a lot simpler than a lot of the U.S. I always drive home this way from a lumber yard and engine shop I use just to avoid the tourist traffic…well not ‘just’, it’s an enjoyable drive too. 🙂

      1. I hear you – those detours keep us sane. And of course I realize nothing is ideal. Close to one of the prettiest places where I spend time, there’s a highway, too.
