Brinkhaven Oak Barrens, Approach from the South

A Sunday evening walk into the Brinkhaven Oak Barrens Preserve.  This is a unique, fire dependent, prairie-like ecosystem. It was historically maintained by periodic fires started by sparks and embers from coal burning locomotives on the long climb just to the east of this photograph’s location.
