Walking Downstream

…we find order in blooming flowers, the growth of great trees, and the movement of the planets but the preference of nature is toward disorder and winding down to the lowest energy state.  I am reminded of this on almost every walk in the wood. The banks of the ravine slump toward the stream, taking large trees down.  The stream bed is littered with wood and rocks, all moving downstream at various rates.  Glacial till covers ancient bedrock exposed by millions of years of weathering  and erosion.  To me this is part of the great mystery of time and place that surrounds us.  I find it pretty cool…
